With the economy improving, staff retention is resuming its place as a high priority for business. The most accurate source of information to guide staff retention efforts is that collected directly from staff via on-boarding, stay and exit interviews.
The Interview Group is currently conducting a foundational study into best practices in retention interviews, focusing on the three interview practices mentioned above.
While exit interviews have been a long standing HR practice there is great variety in the processes used and the outcomes delivered. This study seeks to identify what practices are currently being used and to compare them to best practice in ANZ and internationally.
More recently, some organisations have started to interview new staff (via on-boarding interviews) and existing staff at 'risk points' (stay interviews). Stay interviews are those done with high value and/or high risk staff, for example those at certain lengths of tenure, in certain roles, or who have been identified as having high potential or as top performers. These practices represent a powerful opportunity to prevent staff losses before they occur. The study seeks to identify how common these practices are currently and what form they take.
To support this important research we are calling on participation from interested individuals and organisations.
All participants in this study will receive a summary of the research findings once complete. This can be used to benchmark your current interview practices or assist in developing new practices. Organisations of any size can participate in this study regardless of the interview practices currently in place. Even those with no interview practices are encouraged to participate.
Participants are simply required to fill out an online survey which takes between 5 and 15 minutes to complete depending on your current practices.
